The Pension Buyout Business Consultant is responsible for analyzing, testing and implementing systematic parameters to support plan provisions for new and existing Pension Buyout plans. The Business Consultant works with business partners to define and interpret the rules that need to be applied to the client’s data during the initial installation of the plan and implementation of plan amendments and plan changes for the ongoing Pension Buyout business. The Business Consultant works closely with the Retirement Services' systems and business units to troubleshoot technical issues relative to information exchange activity for both new business and existing Pension Buyout plans.
The Business Consultant will be required to understand how our products and systems operate in order to effectively manage daily calculation activity.
Analyze, test and implement systematic parameters to support plan provisions for new and existing Pension Buyout plans.
Work closely with Retirement Services' systems and the DB business units to troubleshoot technical issues relative to benefit activity.
Work with Retirement Services Systems partners for scripting requests.
Implement plan changes for the ongoing Pension Buyout business ensuring that all changes maintain the integrity of the system in the administration of the plan.
They must be knowledgeable in the interpretation of individual pension plan provisions, as well as in the application of these provisions as they relate to programming the pension buyout calculation system.
Assist in developing and determine impacts to the business for regulatory or discretionary changes.
Ensure the system is in compliance with all past and current regulations.
Identify the standard business rules that need to be applied to the client’s data.
Assist the New Business team to define the business rules that need to be applied to the client’s data during the New Business conversion process.
Assist in various departmental projects as needed
They must be knowledgeable around departmental workflows and be able to handle routine plan and participant level calculation questions from business partners and clients.
Help in verifying validity of technical enhancements and assist the business in submitting work tickets as needed for benefit calculation system fixes (i.e. control file tickets).
Mentor and train associates both existing and new hires on the benefit calculation system.
Experience with Defined Benefit plans
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-starter who can work in a team environment, as well as independently
Industry Knowledge – need to understand all regulatory items that affect a participant’s calculation and the application of that provision by the calculation system.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks successfully
Strong written and verbal communication skills
In 2019, job location required in Massachusetts (Home Office – Springfield MA)
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel will be helpful – ability to use simple formulas and data management functions preferred
Experience with FIS applications – OMNI DBEN helpful, but not required
Experience with SQL and relational databases helpful, but not required
Experience with Lynchval LVADMIN systems not required but a plus
2 or more Years of experience in the Defined Benefit Pension Plan business preferred
