SUMMARY

The MMUS Regulatory Compliance team is involved in a variety of critical compliance functions. Primarily, the team is responsible for managing regulatory engagements ranging from producer-specific matters such as activity inquiries to enterprise-wide exams from FINRA, SEC and state departments of securities and insurance.

Additionally, the department ensures compliance with applicable regulatory standards including producer U4/U5 disclosure reviews, complaint reviews for the purposes of 4530 reporting and other recurring regulatory reporting needs. Through involvement in regulatory engagements, members of the department may make recommendations which can significantly impact the organization.

In the normal course of business members of this team will typically engage with a number of business partners including agency/firm management teams, Law, MMLIS, MMUS operations teams and other teams within MMUS Compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review client complaints for allegations which may be reportable under FINRA rule 4530 and Form U4 and U5 disclosure questions.

  • Document outcome of review for archive purposes with an eye towards potential future analysis and productions to FINRA or other regulators.

  • File applicable 4530 statistical and disclosure filings as well as related producer U4/U5 amendments (if warranted).

  • Monitor resolution of customer complaints and client-initiated litigations for potential reporting obligations.

  • Provide or seek guidance to/from business partners (both internal and in the field) on potential complaint-related reporting obligations.

  • Enhance best practices for handling complaint reporting employing a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Respond to regulatory requests for complaint and filing information

  • Generate filing-related reports and commentary to satisfy regulatory requirements as well as outside business partners (i.e. 3012 reports and FINRA disclosure letters).

  • Proactively manage case work to ensure FINRA’s filing deadlines are consistently met.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in either the life insurance or securities industry.

  • Working knowledge of the products (both insurance and securities) distributed by producers in MM agencies/firms.

  • Familiarity with the various service platforms and related tools that pertain to the administration of client accounts/contracts/policies.

  • Understanding of the MM career agency structure including the various roles and contracts as they may impact communication needs and reporting requirements.

  • Experience with FINRA regulatory reporting requirements, specifically registered representative and Firm responsibilities.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to analyze matters of varying complexities.

  • Ability to apply FINRA regulations to complaint-related matters.

  • Capability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to empathize are essential.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience.

  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 24 Exams

  • Familiarity with FINRA WebCRD portal

  • Understanding of reporting obligations of FINRA Forms U4 and U5 and Rule 4530.
