The Wealth Management Compliance Team, as part of MMUS Compliance, is responsible for providing guidance and support to MassMutual’s Broker Dealers and Investment Advisory business’ back office and supervisory staff. This may include monitoring and adherence to policies and procedures as well as providing compliance oversight to MML Investors Services LLC (MMLIS), MMLIS’ Investment Advisor (CRIA), MML Strategic Distributors LLC (MSD) and MML Distributors LLC (MMLD).
Provide support and guidance related to the Broker Dealer Surveillance systems, TSS, PTA, Dataminder and Hearsay Social
Assist in establishing and maintaining surveillance rule sets and hierarchies associated with our surveillance systems
Provide support and manage interactions with outside vendors who support our surveillance systems, including managing upgrades and resolving system issues
Work with and provide support to the Supervisory Controls Group to address enhancements and modifications to TSS and PTA
Deliver, Maintain and Monitor Pay to Play disclosures as well as Code of Ethics and RR Attestations through PTA or other systems
Assist in providing compliance guidance and support to the Registration Team for all MMUS broker dealers (MMLIS, MSD, MMLD)
Assist in managing the 3120 and 3130 requirements for MSD and MMLD
Assist with developing DOL Compliance monitoring and reporting
Assist with providing guidance to MMLIA as needed.
Responsible for effectively educating and informing senior and executive management of MMLIS/MSD compliance issues in order to avoid significant regulatory, financial, and reputational exposure for the company.
Proactively provide compliance guidance and interpretation of regulations and company policy to MMLIS/MSD/MMLD staff and management related to surveillance activities.
Act as compliance liaison and resource to MSD/MMLD/MMLIA or other areas within the Company as new systems, workflows or operational policies and procedures are developed which require surveillance capabilities
Work with other business constituencies such as the Law Division to address compliance and regulatory issues.
Handle projects and special assignments as required.
Minimum of 4-6 years recent experience in securities compliance or law.
Strong broker dealer background in securities, variable products and retirement plan business
Ability and willingness to identify regulatory risks and supervisory control weaknesses to mid and senior-level management.
Ability and willingness to develop and negotiate creative and practical solutions to compliance and regulatory issues that meet regulatory requirements while balancing the needs and available resources of the business areas.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to generate precise and thorough documentation.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to effectively identify and communicate and address the full range of potential compliance exposures.
Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and risk assessment skills.
Ability to deal effectively with internal clients at all levels and areas of the organization.
Experience with SunGard systems including TSS/Protegent Surveillance and PTA desired
Bachelor’s degree. FINRA Series 7 and 24 required or completed within 90 days of hire.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
- A graduate degree or advanced professional designation is desired.
