The Compliance Data Intelligence and Analytics Team, as part of MMUSC, is responsible for performing oversight, analysis and risk management related to Compliance Risk inherent in MassMutual insurance business (underwriting, post issuance, sales practices, etc.), as well as holistic divisional perspectives. Through the evaluation of MassMutual’s business model, regulatory, industry and economic environments, the team focuses on creating data driven intelligence to inform business and compliance partners of potential risk exposures.


  • An analytic thought leader with excellent communication and collaborative skills to partner with other members of the Compliance organization to conduct business data analysis and other ongoing data analytics work as needed

  • Own/drive assigned projects. Utilize project management skills to coordinate and communicate end-to-end analysis life cycle with compliance partners (and all involved parties)

  • Participate in determination of stakeholder needs to ensure business value is realized. Collaborate with business partners to prepare business requirements

  • Determine data requirements and performance metrics to support analysis

  • Synthesize large amounts of information and translate the derived insights into meaningful key risk indicators; leverage advanced presentation skills, including an ability to present complex information in compelling and easy-to-understand visualizations

  • Analyze data to identify insights, trends or anomalies by collecting, monitoring and creating reports for risk mitigation and decision support

  • Identify proactive opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness For the processes being reviewed in addition to the compliance monitoring and testing methodologies employed and Compliance monitoring and testing methodologies

  • Document and coordinate findings with appropriate parties to establish remediation options, recommendations, expectations and action plans to mitigate risks

  • Ensure that any gaps in policies, procedures, systems or controls are escalated to management; In some cases take an active role in the development and implementation of new compliance controls

  • Capture MMUSC issues, risk mitigation action plans and work with appropriate parties to ensure a holistic view of MMUSC risk management

  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously; maintain focus and prioritize to provide exceptional service levels in a dynamic environment

  • Participate in special projects or ad-hoc assignments on an as-needed basis


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance, compliance, financial services and/or data analytics

  • A Bachelor’s degree is requried

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to solve problems using both data and first-hand understanding

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to distill insights quickly and clearly

  • Strong background in communicating analytical findings through concise written and verbal communication; excellent visualization skills

  • Works with an appropriate level of autonomy.

  • Quickly prioritizes tasks and actions when faced with change and new challenges

  • Proactively seeks opportunities to improve processes, reports, etc.

  • Strong ability to investigate any circumstance and draw conclusions that demonstrate degree of risk.

  • Strong knowledge of risk and ability to define a plan (requirements, testing methodology, etc.) leading to the development of actionable intelligence

  • Appreciation and understanding of the financial services industry in order to make sound business decisions

  • Practical working knowledge of an Insurance / operational & control environment framework, while understanding of compliance / regulatory correlations. Ability to draw qualitative conclusions about potential risk exposures

  • Ability to work with cross-functional team; genuinely requests & considers the input and ideas of others when making decisions aligned to objectives and recommendations.

  • Able to develop step-by-step plans to ensure the right data and the right people are informed of the steps

  • Able to visualize data in new ways and tell a story with the data to help others better understand it and its relevance.

  • Able to recognize flaws in data and clearly explain how they can skew the results of the analysis.

  • Open to new ways of thinking and acquiring new skills to retain a competitive advantage; demonstrates and champions intellectual curiosity

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future


  • FINRA Series 6 preferred. May be required after hire.

  • Comfortable with analyzing data and working in Excel. Experience with SQL and familiarity with data mining tools, Tableau and Alteryx software is strongly preferred
