The Head of MMLIS Learning Development and Communications is accountable for setting strategic and tactical direction and leading the MMLIS training organization supporting MMLIS and MMFA field associates.

This leader will drive the creation and delivery of innovative and highly effective learning solutions that engage, inspire, train, prepare, educate, and develop our talent. The leader will design, direct, plan, and evaluate all training activities and curriculum for MMLIS business and functional areas with broad-based impact. This role manages the Learning Development and Communications team in Springfield MA , and works collaboratively within and across the organization to elevate the overall training and communication discipline.

COMPETANCIES/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of training consulting methodologies, consult with clients on needs analysis, design, delivery and evaluation of the MMLIS business curriculum while incorporating the instructional design methodology.

  • Knowledge in all areas of Instructional Design (ADDIE Model: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation of training).

  • Strong performance consulting skills. Identify the performance skills, knowledge and information gaps of a targeted audience and recommend and create learning experiences to close these gaps.

  • Consult with senior level leaders, Legal and Compliance on development of training initiatives in response to strategic and tactical initiatives as well as Business as Usual.

  • Influence senior management of cross and/or multiple functions on educational decisions/strategies.

  • Formulate strategic and tactical initiatives including capacity and resource project plans.

  • Use Learning Management System to deploy and manage training.

  • Act as liaison with business managers to formulate training strategy, identify training needs, create proposals and implement curriculums to maximize employee development.

  • Manage and participate in project work.

  • Coach and mentor training staff in regard to needs analysis, ID and e-learning tools.

  • Work with senior level leaders and business partners on division and/or enterprise wide initiatives.

  • Partner with business leaders to prioritize work assigned and create timelines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator and strong presentation skills

  • Strong design skills in word and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of Brainshark and Articulate360

  • Strong project management / time management

  • Strong relationship management skills

  • Good negotiation skills

  • Ability to demonstrate strong process improvement skills/behavior

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Lead a team of three Learning Development Consultants and one Communications Consultant.

  • Develop a training strategy to transform Learning Development for MMLIS. Create long and short term strategic and tactical plans that focus on talent development, service delivery, efficiency & effectiveness, and speed to performance across MMLIS

  • Drive innovation and creativity in training delivery methods, curriculum development, design approach, etc. Continuously refresh and modernize training programs

  • Optimize the learning experience with smart investments in technology, software, infrastructure, and people

  • Assess training needs across entire MMLIS organization; collaborate with business leaders to ensure training delivery plans are aligned with business priorities

  • Accelerate performance of the organization through effective training program development and delivery

  • Direct the planning, design, and implementation of both onsite and virtual training programs including new hire onboarding, functional training, and field training

  • Develop appropriate training to support the implementation of new initiatives, strategic projects, etc.

  • Use metrics to measure performance of training team and effectiveness of programs. Evaluate and measure results of all training programs

  • Collaborate with Corporate Training and with L&P leaders across the enterprise to share best practices and develop strategies to continuously improve QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seasoned leader with exceptional leadership skills; prior people and team leadership required. Continuous improvement mindset.

  • Proven success in establishing relationships and fostering collaboration across multiple levels and disciplines; ability to achieve alignment

  • Experience with adult learning theory practices and change management

  • Experience with curriculum design, development, and delivery

  • Knowledge of learning management systems, instructional design software, learning solution channels, and digital learning

  • Strong grasp of performance analytics and reporting tools

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Preferred Master’s degree or advanced certifications preferred

  • Excellent influencing and communication skills

  • Strong project management and organization skills
