Marketing Consultant – Life Product Marketing and Deployment


This position is responsible for driving core product messaging and positioning for life insurance and LTC/Life hybrid products with producers and consumers. Support the introduction and deployment of new products and enhancements. Create client and producer marketing materials that are clear, concise and compelling with the purpose of driving sales. Align and engage with Product Development and Sales to achieve common objectives.

Major Accountabilities

Marketing Collateral Creation - Proactively support Sales and the career agency system (CAS) through the development of product promotion, marketing and competitive collateral. Demonstrate thought leadership in designing new sales materials that give MML a competitive advantage in both recruiting and sales. Identify and create core sales concepts that will drive significant revenue and support CAS retention and growth. Work closely with Sales and field advisory committees to identify new concepts that offer the greatest sales opportunities. Create digital product and marketing materials such as web pages, videos, sales illustrations and pod-casts.

Product Introduction and Deployment – Support the introduction and deployment of new products and enhancements.

Illustration Design and Development – Design and implement new life insurance sales illustration formats and presentations focusing on specific sales concept.

Product Development – Participate in the product ideation process by providing input concerning market opportunity and product positioning.


  • 5+ years of applied knowledge of life insurance marketing strategies, sales concepts and competitive strengths/weaknesses

  • 7+ years in sales or marketing roles in the financial services industry

  • BA / BS degree required, advanced degree desirable, i ndustry designations and training a plus


  • Expert knowledge life products and illustration systems

  • Understanding of the career agency distribution system and a basic understand of brokerage distribution

  • Ability to work effectively at different levels and with a range of business partners, including product, marketing, sales, training and competition

  • Strong writing and presentation development skills

  • A commitment to operate as part of a team and leverage the skills of other team members

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others and build strong business relationships

  • Responsive to partner and customer needs with a sense of urgency

  • Field sales, wholesaling or marketing experience preferred

  • Experience in developing email and social media marketing campaigns

  • Aptitude for metrics and data analytics, and ability to turn them into actionable intelligence

  • Able to adapt, learn, and thrive in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
