The Retiree Middle Market strategy provides access to needed Life Insurance coverage to under-served and under-insured Mass Market consumers. This position is a unique opportunity that brings the culture of a startup to the stability and backing of a large company.

Job Summary

The MassMutual RMM organization is seeking a Business Analyst within the Project Implementation team. The Business Analyst’s primary objective is to enable technology solutions and business objectives in an efficient and successful way by determining the requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. Developing technical solutions begins with defining, analyzing and documenting requirements. The Business Analyst will play a lead role in assisting with business cases, eliciting and organizing requirements, documenting and analyzing requirements, and driving the design and review of test cases. Successful candidates will combine an attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture and will play a key role in the successful implementation of key capabilities.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements


  • Work with SMEs and other stakeholders to perform business process analysis and understand objectives, constraints and alternatives to deliver desired objectives.

  • Consult with business management, compliance, subject matter experts and other personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives.

  • Acts as a liaison between business, information technology, and project management in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of solutions to ensure optimal operational results.

  • Analyze the feasibility of, and develop requirements for, new capabilities and enhancements to existing systems; ensures designs fit the business objectives.

  • Document and recommend requirements and specifications, based on an in-depth understanding of business objectives, technical environment, project timeline and scope.

  • Track and fully document changes in functional and business specifications; write detailed and easily understood procedures and requirements/specifications.

  • Conducts impact analysis to assess the potential implications of changes to project scope and requirements.

  • Lead the design of the user acceptance testing approach as well as the test execution and defect management process to ensure readiness prior to launch.

  • Participates in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality.

  • Plan, organize and conducts business process reengineering/improvement projects. Recommended solutions should be developed in consultation with impacted internal and external stakeholders.

  • Business Analyst will report to AVP Business Expansion Implementation, and will work closely with:

  • Distribution

  • Marketing

  • Product

  • Analytics

  • Policy Administration

  • Internal and Third Party Technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in the financial services/insurance industry preferred , including 5+ years in Business Analysis Roles

  • Financial services knowledge required, insurance experience preferred

  • Bachelor 's degree required, Masters preferred

  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring Visa sponsorship now or in the future

  • Experience demonstrating advanced Business Analysis skills including: efficient and thorough documentation of business requirements and functional specifications based on a solid understanding of business objectives and technical environment

  • Strong organizational, time management and verbal/written communication skills

  • Proficient with standard documentation tools (Visio, Excel, Word, JIRA)
