The Project Manager – Business Consultant is part of a team of other Consultants and reports to the Head of Business Delivery within the Business Planning organization of MassMutual Financial Advisors. The Consultant functions as an individual contributor in a team environment and will be responsible for helping MMFA leaders and partners drive an ongoing and aggressive agenda that is focused on capabilities and solutions that address the strategic pillars in the near term, and the overall strategic vision in the long-term. One of the primary areas of focus of the Business Consultant will be to drive build/integration solutions in Salesforce, in partnership with various business leaders. In addition, the Consultant will drive business and partner engagement on projects and programs unrelated to Salesforce and aligned with MMFA strategic goals.

  • For Salesforce projects – work with the primary business owner from discovery to high-level requirements (validating and justifying the business need, defining scope, general strategic alignment, solution recommendations, vendor analysis etc.) prior to consideration on the Salesforce roadmap

  • For Salesforce projects - align with the primary business owner and serve as a key participant in the work cell to help define iterative scope; work more closely with IT by providing a more immediate sounding board on build and test components; align with the business in validating minimum viable product (MVP)

  • For Salesforce projects – as needed, coordinate the overall strategic portfolio and drive alignment amongst various business stakeholders

  • For non-Salesforce programs/projects – build and maintain program governance structure to deliver on all aspects of the project from definition to launch. This includes providing status to various leaders, challenging inconsistencies and redirecting efforts to achieve results that are timely, escalating concerns/facilitating discussions to reach the desired outcome, and completing agreed-to action items.

  • For all projects – help determine, understand and can speak for cost/benefit as needed

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required

  • Self-driven with a constant focus on timely execution

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar technology

  • Experience in a business project management type capacity

  • Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills

  • Able to drive engaging discussions and influence others in meeting the desired objectives

  • Seasoned individual capable of handling multiple projects with competing priorities

  • Capable of handling all but the most complex problems independently

  • Anticipates change and directs or redirects efforts

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Nimble and able to work with individuals at all levels of the organization – SMEs to Senior Leaders

  • Takes initiative to master technology and business knowledge

  • Ability to follow-up independently and address action items with minimal supervision

  • 3-5 years of related work experience preferably in the financial services/insurance industry

  • Some technical development background a plus but not required
